Feedback
One question in language generation concerns potential feedback of later stages
to earlier ones. Two possible influences of feedback have to be considered:
- Feedback from grammatical encoding to conceptualizing
- Feedback from phonetic planning to grammatical encoding
Both questions were put to test by Levelt and Maassen (1981).
The results of such experiments suggest that there is no feedback from grammatical encoding to conceptualizing but there is from phonological to grammatical encoding.
