This course is meant to introduce students with Arabic as their mother tongue who want to become teachers of English to general aspects of phonetic description and to the special challenges of the sound system of English. It consists of two parts:
- Central concepts in phonetics
- English phonology
Special emphasis will be put on transcription skills as well as on contrastive analyses between English and Arabic.
